Jon Helminiak founded the North Central Airlines commemorative exhibit at the Aviation Heritage Center of Wisconsin, located at Sheboygan County Memorial Airport. The display is the nation’s only tribute honoring North Central Airlines,
Founded in Clintonville, Wisconsin in 1944, North Central Airlines was a significant part of commercial aviation, offering service to more than 100 destinations. The highlight of the exhibit is a Douglas DC-3 aircraft that actually flew for North Central Airlines in the 1950s and 1960s.
In addition to the DC-3 airliner, the museum houses North Central Airlines memorabilia including uniforms, photos, route maps, signs and more.
The 6-minute video below tells the story of this former North Central Airlines DC-3 aircraft, including statements from a former "stewardess" and a pilot.
