INSPIRATIONAL LESSONS FROM REMOTE AND STRANGE PLACES
The gladdest moment in human life, me thinks, is a departure into unknown lands." – Sir Richard Burton
"Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all." - Helen Keller
More than school, an immersion into global travel and the wilderness has taught me about myself, the world, and the human condition.
Heading into the wild, or flying to exotic places overseas, isn’t for everyone. Often a comfy home, with the rewards of family and friends, is all a person requires to be fulfilled (I like that, too). Everyone is motivated by different life-spirits.
So, if you’re an armchair traveler, here are some of things I’ve done that are a bit out-of-the ordinary. I hope these adventures will make you smile, and along the journey, perhaps you’ll see something new and wonderful.
Not featured, but also memorable are:
- South Africa/Zimbabwe in 1987 before they became popular tourist spots.
- Bali - circumnavigating the north and east sides of the islands in1993 when they were completely native and un-touristed.
- Cambodia - a charming yet historically taciturn destination.
- Canary Islands, northwest of Africa
